OP, marry me, please. I’m sick and tired of this issue. I wish there were some fic where France actually refuses to pay ransom, like it really happened. And I wish there were some story with other people from French history; where is Henry IV or Richelieu or even Louis XIV?

Oh my, how I’d like that. It’s not that I don’t like Jeanne, but she was somehow an ‘invention’ of the 19th century. And nowadays, she’s not as present as she used to be. I mean, ask for France’s main hero nowadays, I’m not sure you’ll get her as an answer.
